About Keys to Website Success
Hi! My name is Kathy Hendershot-Hurd and in 1998 I founded the web development company Virtual Impax.
At the time, it seemed like a great idea. After all, I’d taught myself HTML way back in 1994 during the long and sleepless nights after the birth of my third child. I started my work life after college working for a regional advertising agency. After I married and started the “Mommy Track”, I stepped off the Advertising Agency grist mill and sought a “saner” existence in media sales. After the birth of my third child, event he breadth and depth of flexibility afforded me by my employer (Mike… you had the patience of Job!) wasn’t enough so I decided to launch a web development company for this fancy new thing called the World Wide Web.
I now refer to this as “a perfectly enjoyable hobby (web development) gone horribly awry.”
Almost a decade later, I’m still at it but on a larger scale. Click here to see an archived copy of my personal site from 1995. (Notice the “number of visitors” script…. that was HIGH PROGRAMMING back then!)
In the past decade the web has become THE marketing tool of choice and I happen to have almost 15 years of experience in the field of traditional advertising.
So these days I spend my time helping clients get the most out of the web. I also wrote a book called Beyond the Niche: Essential Tools You Need to Create Marketing Messages that Deliver Results because I got so TIRED of hearing myself say the same thing over and over again. Know what I found? I still repeat myself….
My latest passion is blogs…. because, quite honestly, a web site you never update isn’t worth the hosting fee you’re paying to have it hosted.
Since most of my clients are NOT technically savvy, blogs are the answer for non-techies to stay “hands on” with their web site. PLUS Wordpress blogs rock when it comes to being search engine friendly!
